Poor Mister Mulberry
02:32
|
|
||
Top of his game, one of a kind
Dear Mister Mulberry had lots on his mind
No one was happier, he couldn’t be more fine
Except dear Mister Mulberry was going to die
Just one of those days, should’ve stayed in bed
‘cause you never knew when you might end up dead
He wanted some exercise and just on a whim
He put on his bathing suit to go for a swim
He hopped in his automobile, feeling sublime
He thought “I’ll take a shortcut to save me some time”
He took a wrong turn and to his mistake
Mister Mulberry went swimming in Crocodile Lake
It was only an instant when he saw those green eyes
Poor Mister Mulberry met his tragic demise
There’s a lesson to learn here, life can be so cruel
And if you feel like swimming just stick to the pool

Simon the Snowman

Simon was a snowman who lived inside the freezer
He loved to hug his friends and he was quite the squeezer
He lived in California where temperatures were hotter
But if he went too far from home he’d quickly become water
Simon, Simon, Simon was a snowman
Simon, Simon, needed to stay frozen
At nighttime he’d go adventuring to try and make new friends
He went to all the coolest spots, he followed all the latest trends
Tonight he went to the lookout where he’d been time and time again
It had always been his favourite place to look at all the choo choo trains
It was quieter than usual but Simon wasn’t tied up in knots
He knew it was good to have some time alone to organize his thoughts
A raspy voice broke the silence, “I don’t mean to be rude”
A homeless rabbit lay starving in desperate need of food
Simon knew he had to help this stranger in his time of need
He fed the rabbit his carrot nose, it was a truly selfless deed
Simon’s mom and dad were proud and tears began to trickle
They gave him a brand new nose made from a purple pickle
Simon’s mom and dad were proud their tears began to trickle
Simon got a brand new nose made from a purple pickle

Hannah Banana
03:51
|
|

There once was a family of fruit, you see
With lots of personality
Abby the Apple was often angry
And Cedric the Strawberry was a little bit lazy
Polly the Pineapple couldn’t sleep at night
While Frannie the little Fig loved to fight
But the kindest and wisest of the fruits I recall
Was Hannah Banana and she loved them all
Everyone is different, it can be hard to get along
Every fruit is beautiful, our diversity makes us strong
Have patience like Hannah Banana, be a friend to those in need
And love each other inside out, the peel and the seeds
But one Saturday night something wasn’t right
There was trouble in the air
Abby and Frannie were arguing
And even Cedric was half way there
Hannah didn’t panic, she spoke with a calming voice
She said “Yelling won’t change anything, so first let’s cut the noise”
But Hannah wasn’t finished yet, she said:
“Take ten minutes to yourself to ask why things got heated
Then talk to each other respectfully the way you’d like to be treated
Arguing never feels good, so when those feelings rise
Listen to each other’s point of view like Hannah, see them eye to eye”

Do You Ever Imagine?
04:16
|
|
||
Do you ever imagine that you live underwater?
Born with flippers and a tail you’d live among the otters
Unaffected by the chills
Breathing through your tiny gills
Mastering your swimming skills
When you live underwater
Do you ever imagine you were faster than a race car?
Your dog would need a rocket ship to ride in when you chased her
You’d be the world’s fastest runner
Break one record after another
“Please be careful” shouts your mother
When you’re faster than a race car
When you create you get to make the rules
In your imagination, you do what you wanna do
Everyone wears underwear except for me of course
You all ride your bikes to school, instead I ride a horse
I eat candy for breakfast, it’s a healthy meal for me
And I sleep up in the clouds on my flying trampoline
Do you ever imagine that you were eight feet tall?
Hiding things on high-up shelves and slam-dunking basketballs
Changing a lightbulb would be no matter
Paint your house without a ladder
Look down on me if you just sat there
If you were eight feet tall
If you’re a girl or you’re a boy we raise our hands and be annoying
Spin in circles, dance around, raise your voice, go to town
Smell your feet, dirty socks, build a snowman out of rocks
Shake your booty up and down, side to side, round and round

Grandma, come on let’s swim
The water’s up to my chin
Catch me while I dive in
Grandma, I love you so much
I love you so much, so what’s the rush?
You’re leaving again so soon
Where do you go? Where do you call home?
I know you fly to a faraway place, that has no kangaroos
What do you mean there are no dingos
or spiders the size of your shoe?
When will you come visit again
To play with Felix and I?
We’ll miss you Grandma Dawn, we hate to say goodbye
Pria, I’m off to Saskatoon
I’m gonna see you soon
I love to the moon and back
Grandma, let’s do more puzzles at 6 A.M.
We’ll rock around the clock and then
You can check my armpits again
But when will you return?
There’s still so much I need to learn

Try Something New
04:09
|
|
||
It’s a good day to try something new
I could bake a cake while I learn kung fu
I’ll make mistakes and get dirty too
But I need some help to decide to do
I’ll take a trip to China, walk the Plank Road in the Sky
And I’ll visit the Great Wall, tell the Emperors I said hi
Then I’ll go to Thailand to see the great Canyon of Pai,
And I’ll climb upon the boulders on the beaches of Tonsai
I’ll eat a candied scorpion on the streets of Khao San road
And barter for some souvenirs at the best price, or so I’m told
The people here live differently than how I do at home
I’m pretty lucky to have all that I own
I’ll try to make the cookies that Grandma made for me
Her gingersnaps could not be beat and that’s a guarantee
It shouldn’t be too hard if we just use her recipe
A triple batch might be enough, wouldn’t you agree?
First I’ll heat the oven and then I’ll mix the dough
I’ll press the cookies with a fork and sprinkle sugar as I go
I’ll probably burn the first tray, cook them longer than I should
Because learning is a process and the burnt ones still taste good
I’ll play Dungeons and Dragons, and be a wizard for a day
I’ll turn invisible or shoot fireballs in my imagination
I’ll talk with a funny voice as if it were my own
Maybe I’m a banished king who must reclaim his throne
I could read about history to understand where I come from
ask mom or dad to tell me stories of when they were younger
There’s so many things to learn, our minds are always glowing
So keep on asking questions and you’ll never stop growing
Won’t you help me decide what to do?

Farrah's Song
02:18
|
|
||
She was born, born in June the youngest of three
In the coldest winter they’d seen
Mom was stressed, dad was tired and grandma flew in
And it was the happiest they’d ever been
Some days were long and nights even longer
She was high and then low with no in between
But their love was strong and patience was key
It was the happiest they’d ever been
She grew old, moved away, with the love of her life
Built a home in a valley of green
Mom and dad came to visit and they heard the hills sing
And it was the happiest they’d ever been

Laughing Boy
03:37
|
|
||
Alex was a little boy and laughing was his favourite thing
He laughed until his tummy hurt, he even laughed while snorkeling
He laughed at every passing stranger and in the face of mortal danger
He laughed all over in all directions and even at his own reflection
He laughed at the dinner table while he ate
He laughed for twenty hours straight
Alex was afraid that his head might pop
When he could not make the laughing stop
I said Alex laughed for hours and days or weeks, he wasn’t sure
He decided to see the doctor, there had to be a cure
He said “It just so happens that you caught the laughing bug
And I know just what to do
Take these pills three times a day and you’ll be good as new
There’s one little problem though, it’ll take about a week
So do yourself a favour and laugh yourself to sleep”
Alex was feeling restless, he decided to take a walk
He met some upset individuals, they just needed to talk
A man was mad that he made a mess
And a baby was crying its eyes out
A lady was worried that it might rain
And Alex met many more along the route
Alex’s laughter came in stages it was so outrageous it became contagious
The whole world giggled their problems away
And soon my boy Alex had saved the day

Megan the Muskrat

Megan the muskrat was quite a forgetful soul
At 80 muskrat years her memory had taken a toll
Today she had a plan, only one thing on the list
It was gonna be a sunny one, an opportunity not to be missed
Megan, Megan, Megan the muskrat
Megan, Megan, Megan the muskrat
Her house was looking shabby, though it was worth a quarter mil
In Toronto’s lakeside market she knew it would never sell
And she thought “I’ll brighten this place up, I’ll apply a fresh new coat”
So she sailed off to find some paint in her little muskrat boat
Megan the muskrat was meddling
in a mountain of mustard seed
She wanted to paint her house yellow
And thought “This is just what I need”
Megan the muskrat in all her forgetfulness
Forgot to buy herself a brush and things were quite a mess
She knew she had to improvise and bristles she had some
So she sat herself inside her tray and painted with her bum

Felix
05:40
|
|||
One April morning a little bird poked his beak through the rigid eggshell that surrounded him. The bright sun warmed his tender face as his eyes began to focus. Looking down on him was mama songbird who greeted his arrival with a cheerful tune. She sang a beautiful melody that she learned from her mama when she was a baby. Felix was mama’s first baby. He hatched in carefully constructed nest that papa songbird built to keep him safe and warm. It was located high up in an oak tree near a grassy meadow. Mama felt something very special about her baby, so she named him Felix, which means “lucky”.
Every morning mama and papa songbird would welcome the sun with their voices. The honeybees began to collect pollen, the groundhogs dug vast underground tunnels and spiders spun magnificent webs under the beautiful blue sky. One day, Mama songbird explained that songbirds have a very important job to do. She said “We make sure all the other animals don’t sleep in, otherwise they might sleep all day long. Every animal has an important job and we all have responsibilities so we can share this beautiful space together.”
But Felix had a small problem. He didn’t love to sing. He knew he had a beautiful voice but singing didn’t bring him joy. One day some other animals were teasing him. They said “A songbird who doesn’t sing, why who’s ever heard of such a thing?” Felix was very sad. He felt alone because no one understood him. “I want to dig holes like the groundhogs”, Felix told mama. I want to get dirty and to explore the tunnels. “I don’t know how to describe it but I feel like a bird on the outside and a groundhog on the inside. Sometimes I just feel like I’m a mistake”. Mama held Felix close and said “My love, there are no mistakes, only opportunities. You’ve been given a gift to see life from a different perspective. Sometimes it’s hard being different but I will always love you for exactly who you are. ”
The next day papa songbird took Felix to the tunnels to introduce him to the groundhogs. “Hi there! I’d like you to meet my son. He wants to learn to dig with you today! “Pleased to meet you Felix” said the groundhog. “My name’s David. We’ve got a perfect job for you. We’re working on a tunnel that’s full of worms and my kids are so afraid and grossed out that they refuse to go inside! I hope you don’t mind worms.” “Mind them?!” said Felix, “Worms are my favourite food!”
All afternoon Felix ate and ate and ate, until he so full he thought his stomach would burst. When the sun started to set, David made Felix an official groundhog and said he was welcome to come work in the tunnels any time he wanted. “See you tomorrow then!” Felix yelled. As he was leaving, Felix flapped his little wings and left a cloud of dirt behind him as he made his way back to the nest. It was finally time for dinner, although he knew he wasn’t going to be eating very much.
Later that night mama, papa and Felix all gathered together in the nest to talk. “We’re so proud of you Felix” they both said. “We’re so glad that you’re following your heart because when you love the job that you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
When Felix grew older he left the nest and met a loving partner named Robyn. Together they decided to adopt two babies, a songbird and a groundhog which they raised together with the help of their loving community. Felix was brave for following his heart even when others laughed at him for being different. He set a beautiful example to all those around him. Felix truly was lucky, just like mama predicted when she named him.
